Lofou Village Wedding – Joanna & William
Joanna, an Animal Charity Volunteer, 26, & William, a 1st Officer on a Yacht, 30, Parsons married at the Apokryfo Hotel in Lofou, Paphos on the 15th October 2015.
We wanted a mix of Traditional Cypriot and English to put a part of us both in the Wedding. I also wanted splashes of colour with pinks and reds together with olive branches [and] a hint of fairy-tale romance.
We met in a small English village on the South coast and after three months of dating we moved to the South of France where William was working at the time. We lived there for over six years before relocating to Cyprus. We have been together nearly eight years so living in Cyprus, we thought it was the perfect place to get all of our families together for our Wedding.
As we drove to the Church and after to the venue it was am amazing experience of the driver beeping the horn and the other cars beeping [with] people in the village coming out and waving at us as we drove past!
We had been searching for the perfect venue for us. I wanted something different that brought to life the vision I had for the day. Once we were there I knew [that Apokryfo] was the perfect venue, it felt like we had gone back 100 years to a rural retreat in the mountains. It really does look like the setting of a Cypriot fairy-tale, with it’s sand coloured stonework, climbing ivy and rustic – but perfect feel. I couldn’t imagine holding our venue anywhere else.
On the day we were extremely lucky and everything went to plan, I was so worried beforehand that we would have rain and as most of our Wedding was outside it would have been a huge problem. Thankfully the weather was incredible. All of our guests had a fantastic time and we really couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day. One of the best parts of the day was during the reception, just looking [around] and time seemed to stand still, in this amazing setting were all of mine and William’s favourite people, here for both of us to be with us on this day. With William sat next to me and all of the beauty of the decorations, lighting and atmosphere, it was quite overwhelming and a feeling I will never forget.
My Advice: As cliché as it sounds, the day really does go fast! Make sure you have a photographer you can trust, as I love looking through our photos and remembering the day, they are so special as it’s something that I can share with my family who sadly couldn’t make it to our Wedding.
Joanna & William had such a fabulous wedding day, and left us an amazing review:
“Thank you both so much! When I was looking for a photographer at first I was really nervous, but as soon as I had contacted you I was at ease. You were always contactable and helped put my nerves at rest. I was very grateful that you came to see the church and the venue beforehand and told me the ideas of the photos you had in mind at certain locations. On the day you were both so friendly and helpful and told us how to stand and made it all feel very natural and relaxed. The photos I have seen so far are amazing! And I am so excited to see the rest! Thank you both so much for your hard work and your kindness”.
Congratulations to you both, and our very best wishes for the future
